I woke up this morning full of cold. Yes, seriously. I couldn’t really believe it either. I think it’s probably my body’s way of letting go of the past six months of stress and adrenaline, annoying but at least it didn’t happen before the wedding or emigrating!
This used to happen to me every February during uni; after getting through Christmas and exams I would always crash and burn in the first week of February which also, unfortunately, coincided with my birthday. Anyway, I went to 7/11 and bought some children’s Strepsils which are delicious and I’ve dosed up on Neurofen so hopefully it won’t take me long to feel better. I also sat by the pool for a few hours to load up some vitamin D.
This evening to cheer me up, Dave took me to Thong Lo, more specifically Game Over for a burger. He’s raved about their food frequently during our chats on FaceTime so despite feeling pretty lousy I was looking forward to trying their grub!
Game Over is a ‘gaming cafe’; there are consoles to play FIFA, glass computer rooms as well as food, drinks and boardgames! Visually it’s great, all industrial and arty but without any pretentiousness at all, I loved it. It was quite busy for a Tuesday evening, a mixture of westerners and Thais catching up with friends, playing pool and enjoying burgers! The kitchen is called NERD and is run by the burger king of Bangkok, Daniel Thaiger.
If you’re in Bangkok and fancy a fantastic burger, get over to Thong Lo and check out Game Over.*
*Post update September 2016 – As of this August Daniel Thaiger is no longer operating the kitchen at Game Over – his delicious burgers are still available in Bangkok though, check out his Facebook page to find out locations. The kitchen at Game Over is now serving yummy ribs!
