No visit to Bangkok would be complete without a visit to the Chatuchak weekend market. With over 8,000 stalls spread over an area the size of 5 football pitches it is pretty epic and can be hideously overwhelming especially in the April temperatures but is well worth a visit! We haven’t been since August last year when we were taken by school as part of our introduction week but thought my parents would enjoy it. We set off early so that we would miss the heat of the midday sun taking the BTS to Asok and the the MRT to Kamphaen Phet.
It wasn’t actually as busy as I thought it would be so it was really pleasant wandering through the alleyways of stalls taking in all the incredible food and drinks on offer, picking up souvenirs and generally marvelling at all thats on offer! There were some great ceramic homewares stalls which I will go back to when we move into our new apartment. Within the 27 ‘sections’ you can find everything from clothing to antiques, food, plants, homewares and even animals although I have avoided this section on both visits.
Enjoying a fresh fruit smoothie for 80p!
