Goodbyes.

Saying goodbye is truly the worst thing about living on the other side of the world. We had the most amazing 2 weeks with my parents and I can’t wait for them to visit again, we’re already planning on doing some proper island hopping with them next time, but actually saying goodbye at the departure gate sucked!

For me it was probably made worse as we had no more visitors booked which I suspect had been getting me through my ‘no-job-expat-life‘ but the prospect of the rest of the year without seeing anyone really hit home. Thankfully not long after my folks returned home (and presumably raved about what a great time they’d had) my sister and her boyfriend booked flights to come out in the summer! I do think seeing your family less makes you truly appreciate the time you do spend together which can’t be a bad thing!

It was the first time my parents had been to visit so maybe saying goodbye will get easier? I suspect not.

  2. Probably won’t get any easier, but I’m sure they felt it just as much as you which hopefully means they’ll be keen to pop out and see you again!

They’ll be back! Have you looked into the expat community in Bangkok much? It’s massive and filled with Thai locals as well as others from across the globe who now call Bangkok home? Makes the no-job-expat-life much less lonely! xx
