Review ~ Peppina

On Saturday we had a yearning to eat somewhere new. I had read about Peppina on BK Magazine and heard about it from friends but knew it was a long shot trying to book a table at a restaurant that notoriously has week long waiting lists for tables and is consistently fully booked. Well it was our lucky day, they could fit us in at 6.30 meaning the fastest getting ready turnaround as it was already 5.20pm!

The restaurant specialises in true Neapolitan-style pizza that are made from fresh Italian ingredients flown in each week and cooked in the beautiful pizza oven made and imported from…you guessed it, Naples. The decor is casual yet elegant, with polished wooden tables, tan leather seats and industrial concrete walls. We loved the giant Sopranos Last Supper picture behind our table!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I opted for a glass of red wine, the boys had beer whilst we perused the extensive menu and specials. The prices are really reasonable and there is an incredible range of pizza, pasta and grills. Pizzas also come in two sizes Mignon and Regular, ideal for those with a smaller appetite or anyone like me who likes a bit of pizza and a salad!

The boys decided to share and went for a pizza and two pasta dishes. Whilst we waited we were given the most delicious warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Good bread is like gold to expats and we wolfed it down much quicker than is civilised and asked for more!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My steak was cooked perfectly rare and was absolutely delicious. It was served with potato and a slow roasted head of garlic.

Pizza 417:  Spicy salami, red pepper, capers, anchovies, olives and garlic.

We finished off the meal with a Nutella pizza…I just couldn’t resist! It reminded me of cooking class when I was about 13 and didn’t like pizza so made a chocolate and marshmallow version much to my teachers dismay!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe meal at Peppina was fantastic; the service was very attentive and the food was simply divine. I think BK Magazine was right when they said something along the lines of it being the sort of place you could meet your friends for a beer and a pizza or go for a slap up meal. Whatever the occasion, Peppina will certainly be a regular haunt for us!
