Review ~ Oasis Spa

If you’re in the market for a massage I can’t imagine there’s a city in the world with more choice than Bangkok. As a wedding present we were gifted a voucher for the Oasis Spa on Sukhumvit 31 in Phrom Phong. We have been meaning to use it for the past 6 months and finally got around to it on Wednesday.

Despite living in the land of massage, I haven’t had many since I’ve been here and the ones I have had have been at the lower end of the price spectrum, so I was really looking forward to a few hours at the much pricier and by all accounts, more luxurious Oasis Spa.

Located down a quiet sub soi, off Sukhumvit 31, the spa comprises white buildings with large wooden doors surrounded by lush greenery and gorgeous ponds. We were ushered into a large, airy reception that like any good spa around the world was instantly relaxing, from the aroma to the calming music. We were given cold herbal tea and a scented towel to refresh whilst a gentleman who spoke very good English explained the treatment we would be enjoying that afternoon, we were booked in for the Lanna Secrets package.IMG_2603IMG_2609We were given shoes (they had to find Dave and extra large pair) and shown to a private pavilion where we would enjoy our 2 hour massage together. The room had an outdoor shower and was really beautiful, the temperature was set at 25 degrees and was perfect…I’ve had issues with ice cold air con before!IMG_2611OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe treatment began with traditional Thai massage and acupressure (literally a lady kneeling on you), slightly painful at times but not uncomfortable. This was followed by Thai herbal hot compress, said to dissolve soreness and further releases energy to the body. The treatment was completed with an aromatherapy hot oil massage which I loved, the oil smelt gorgeous and for me this was the most relaxing part of the whole thing!

Once finished we were taken back to reception for some hot herbal tea and were given a complimentary lift back to the BTS. The 2 hours passed really quickly and whilst it wasn’t as relaxing as other massages I’ve had at home in the UK, the next day I felt incredible so all the hype about Thai massage must be true!

The treatment we enjoyed was 2700 baht each so for us it would be a real special occasion treat but we thoroughly enjoyed it and I would highly recommend the Oasis Spa if you’re in the need of a bit of pampering in Bangkok.
