Review ~ Rest Detail Hotel, Hua Hin

We were lucky enough to be given 2 nights at the Rest Detail Hotel in Hua Hin as a wedding/end of school present. We took the train down and jumped in a songthaew to get to our resort which was just 5 minutes away from the train station. Upon arrival we were greeted by really friendly staff and given a cold glass of iced tea and a cool mint scented towel to freshen up.

We were quite early as it was only midday so as expected our room wasn’t quite ready, we were told they would let us know as soon as it was but in the meantime to enjoy the pool and the facilities. We had packed our swimmers in the top of our bag so changed and hit the pool!

Understated seaside elegance, traditional grace, complemented by warm homely touches and pops of modern flair, Rest Detail Hotel Hua Hin invites you to discover our exquisitely designed resort set in a peaceful enclave just out of Hua Hin town.

The boutique hotel is modern and bright; there is lots of white with pops of vivid colour and pattern. The main pool is lovely with lots of loungers and bean bag chairs to enjoy. We were staying in a Rest Horizon room but the hotel has a wide variety of accommodation (56 to be precise) from pool access rooms and beach front chalets to grand pavilions. The hotel has a couple of places to eat, one is currently closed for refurbishment but the resort was so quiet it really didn’t matter. There are bicycles you can borrow to explore Hua Hin and the surrounding area but as we were only there for 2 nights we had no intention of leaving the hotel , we were on mission relaxation!

Within an hour our room was ready. Like the rest of the hotel, it is light and airy with really cool design details from the tiles in the bathroom to the patterned ceiling above the bed. I must give special mention to the bed which has to be one of the comfiest I have ever stayed in; the linens were just beautiful and the duvet, pillows and mattress topper were like sleeping on and in a cloud! Each evening a Kilner jar with home baked treats was brought to our room, we had mini banana muffins one evening and chocolate cookies the next, a really lovely touch.

The absolute highlight of our room had to be the balcony. It was equipped with a fabulous day bed for sunbathing, which was big enough for two, and a stunning jacuzzi looking out over the trees to the beach and sea beyond. Despite not being heated it was plenty warm enough and we seriously spent hours in it! We used the balcony and tub more than we’ve used any of the private pools we’ve had in other hotels, it was just perfect…somebody certainly spent a lot of time in it!

Despite being on a major budget we ate fantastically. After both ordering a snack each we realised the portions were just huge so after that we shared something at lunch. We ate room service a couple of times as we were so happy using our balcony! The mini bar in our room was really great value so we totally utilised this for soft drinks and beer but we did allow ourselves the odd cocktail, happy hour ran from 4-6pm then again from 9-10.30pm. Our favourite one was the Rambutan Daiquiri which was just 190 baht for 2, thats just over £3.50 for two delicious cocktails! Breakfast was great too, there was lots of choice and an egg station cooking whatever eggs you wanted including eggs Benedict plus french toast and pancakes. The best part for me was the freshly made Cha Yen every morning!

For us, this hotel was a wonderful find; we honestly had such a good time and being just over 3 hours away from Bangkok we will definitely be returning, the sooner the better in my opinion! The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the room was great and that jacuzzi, well it’s set the bar high for us now! If you’re looking for a few days escape or a week in paradise I would highly recommend the Rest Detail Hotel.
