MAC Duty Free

It would have been rude to pass through an international airport without picking up a few treats, right? So, I found myself at the MAC counter gazing at the extensive, ever increasing product wish list on my phone and wondering what delights to choose.
As I had a Christmassy-faced look in mind (I was thinking a berry coloured eyeshadow like Cranberry or Sketch) the palette of nine shadows in Burgundy immediately caught my eye. Including Sketch, along with a host of other matte and shimmer tonal berry shades, the palette included everything to build a great daytime look or a dramatic berry smoky eye. This was just under £27, seeing as you get 9 colours I considered this a bargain. The shadows are so pigmented, blend beautifully and the range of colours is lovely. And I did use it on Christmas day to create a sophisticated, festive look!

Also on my list was the Prep & Prime Fix+ spray which has been around forever but in my quest for good fixing sprays, I needed to try this out! I have rediscovered YouTube recently and have been loving Tati aka Glam Life Guru who uses this so much in her videos (check out her brilliant ‘WTF’ series where she tries out ridiculously priced products…hilarious). Anyway, MAC describes this product as “A lightweight, mineral-rich finishing mist that refreshes the skin and finishes makeup. Helps create an even surface for a smooth makeup application.” I have used this spray under makeup for added moisture and after to fix my makeup and I have to say I love it. It gives such a radiant, dewy look, doesn’t dull any highlight and it definitely helps my makeup last for hours – it passed the all-day-wedding test with flying colours. In Thailand duty-free, I paid around £16. I was going to buy the small bottle but thanks to the wise assistant I got the bigger one (100ml) for just a few pounds more and I’m so glad I did.IMG_5345.jpg

Lastly, I picked up another lippie (£13.50). A few weeks before on Instagram, I had asked for suggestions of which colours I needed to add to my collection that you thought I just couldn’t live without. Thanks to those of you who replied – I now have a comprehensive list that I am working my way through, starting with Brave in duty-free! I find the satin formulations really lovely on my lips, they keep them pretty moisturised but last well too. I adore this colour; it’s a beautiful ‘your-lips-but-better-colour’ with something a little extra! It has taken over from old favourite Patisserie as my go-to daytime or subtle night time lipstick. If you don’t have Brave in your vault, you should.IMG_5347.jpg

Have you got any more Mac lipstick suggestions I need to add to my wishlist?
Happy Friday!

    1. Hi Sarah, to be honest Mac in Thailand isn’t great value if you buy it in normal shops as its a pound or two more than the UK but the shops are always empty so your not fighting with a gang of teenage girls to actually get some service or try things!!
In duty free at Suvarnabhumi, it was only a pound or two cheaper than the UK. For obvious reasons brands like Shu Uemura are much cheaper out here whereas American and European makeup is the same if not a little bit more!
Have you got any top tips for great duty free?!

  2. Love a bit of MAC – i’m not a huge lipstick girl but I do love the shade rebel (definitely not an everyday shade though!) xo
