The Cut ~ Cleansing Oil

I used to use face wipes, then I discovered Caroline Hirons and my regime was quickly overhauled; face wipes binned and oils, balms and acids purchased. I was chatting with some friends at the weekend who shuddered at the thought of my seemingly ridiculously tedious pre-bedtime cleansing routine compared to their uber convenient face wipes. Truth be told, I reckon my usual nightly cleanse takes the same amount of time as theirs.

If you’ve never tried a cleansing oil, I urge you to – they take even the heaviest makeup off with ease, including waterproof mascara. There are also lots of benefits of using an oil, especially if you have dry or oily skin. Used with a warm flannel (or if your not flannel-y inclined a muslin) you give yourself a nourishing, deep cleanse with a gentle exfoliation every night in a matter of minutes whilst removing every scrap of makeup and grime. P1180372.jpg

I have tried a few now so here are my favourites:

Muji Cleansing Oil

I have previously raved about the lovely (and very purse friendly) Muji Cleansing Oil which I still love and you can read about here.

Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil

I haven’t actually ever blogged about it but I have been using Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil by Una Brennan (30ml £14.99) for a couple of years. Described as a nourishing pre-cleanse facial oil, I actually use this more often in place of a night moisturiser. Thinner in consistency than other oils, I don’t find it at all greasy, just rich and nourishing, it sinks into my skin and leaves me with a gorgeous glow in the morning. The smell of this oil is divine, it makes me feel like I’ve had a professional facial.

Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil

Firstly, unnecessarily long names on these products but there we go. The Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil is definitely a true cleansing oil; a thicker consistency with a gorgeous citrus scent makes for real face cleaning pleasure. I picked this up when I was home in the UK over Christmas. A 200ml bottle retails for £10.99 but as with most things in Boots, if you keep your eyes peeled it will be on offer pretty soon! I really like this oil and have been using it for the past few weeks. It does a great job of taking off makeup and grime whilst very similar to the Muji Oil this one is scented which I really like. My only gripe with this is the lack of a pump; oil by nature can be messy therefore all oil products should have a pump – please take note, Una. Other than that, a genuinely lovely product.

So put down those face wipes and go pick up a cleansing oil, your face will thank you and you never know, it might not take as long to cleanse as you think!
