Review ~ Marriott, Hua Hin

A few weeks ago we headed down to the Marriott in Hua Hin for the weekend with some friends and our garish inflatables. We got a taxi down to the mainland  seaside resort town which cost around 5000 THB return and takes about 3 hours from central Bangkok.

We got a great deal on our stay and got upgraded to ‘Deluxe Pool Access‘ rooms. The hotel has only been open a few months and is beautifully decorated in my favourite muted grey tones with touches of marble through the rooms. The bathroom was hands down my favourite, just how I’d like my own bathroom! There was lots of nice touches too, like macarons and mini treats delivered when the maids turned down the beds.

This hotel is perfect for children as it has been designed around some seriously cool pools and water features including multiple slides, water cannons and even a lazy river that circles the resort, our rooms dropped straight into it!

I have to say if there wasn’t an adult only pool we’d probably have had a very different time, but the solitude and peace at the adults only pool allowed us some serious rest and relaxation. And some uninterrupted time in our much envied inflatables.

The breakfast was seriously epic – everything and more you can think of! There is a choice of eateries and whilst the food was very good , we thought the menu at Big Fish was pretty limited and the service was seriously lacking given that the restaurant wasn’t even busy. We enjoyed the more casual dining at the beach front bar and the buffet at the Amber Kitchen. There is also a little hidden gem out the front of the hotel, it’s part of the hotel but blink and you miss it, the wonderful Siam Bakery. Decorated in the same beautiful style as the rest of the resort, this place does the most delicious sandwiches! And man, a good sandwich is something I miss here in Thailand!

We had a fab time at the hotel, aside from a walk on the beach we didn’t leave. If you have kids I would highly recommend this hotel and also if you don’t! Someone asked on Instagram if I would recommend Hua Hin as a resort if your visiting Thailand and for me personally I wouldn’t, I think theres far nicer places but as a weekend break from Bangkok it really is perfect.

Just got back from a vacation at Marriott in Nai Yang. They also had a Big Fish restaurant and it was really nice (both food and service). Maybe it’s because the hotel has just opened, but the staff was very enthusiastic and friendly. I was in Hua Hin some 10 years ago, and I’ve been curious about going back, but as you say, there are so many other nice spots in Thailand:)
