Review ~ Baan Saitara Villas, Koh Samui

A few weeks ago we flew to Koh Samui for a few days. Flying direct with Bangkok Air is more expensive than doing the Nok Fly N Ferry option but in theory should save you about half a day each way – when your only going for four days this was precious time.

We usually stay in hotels but my husband had found a great villa called Baan Saitara through Airbnb. As there were four of us wanting three bedrooms it was an ideal choice at around £40 a night each, plus it had its own pool and stunning views. The villa was situated in the slightly quieter Lamai area of Samui, south of lively Chaweng but within easy reach of everything.

We arranged our transfer from Koh Samui airport to the villa with the owners directly which was super convenient. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Resort Manager Kiki (and two super cute dogs), shown to our villa and what’s what was explained, all in perfect english. The villa had a large open plan kitchen/lounge with floor to ceiling doors that opened all the way back onto the pool which came with a huge inflatable pegasus! There were three bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms, two which were en suite. One of the bedrooms was on the floor below which gave a little more privacy. The daily maid service let us truly enjoy our time at Baan Saitara without having to worry about washing up or even making our beds!

The views over Lamai Bay were spectacular as the complex is situated up a steep hill. We booked taxi’s  through Kiki when we wanted to go somewhere and also rented scooters to get around. We bought supplies at the local Makro and ate out in the evenings although a Thai meal can be cooked for you at your villa arranged through the resort staff which we meant to do but never got around to! We discovered the incredible Sabienglae Restaurant which you must try if your in the area, serving the most delicious Thai food (we went twice in four days).

This was only my second experience of Airbnb in Thailand (the first being a hen party in Phuket) and what a fabulous experience it was. I would so highly recommend Baan Saitara if you are visiting Koh Samui as a purse friendly, yet luxurious accommodation option with really great service from owner Ricky and Resort Manager Kiki.

  1. I adore Air Bnb – so much nicer to stay somewhere that feels that bit more homely!
