Review ~ Mövenpick Siam, Pattaya

Preparing for a Princess to visit your workplace is pretty stressful yet a seriously incredible, once in a lifetime experience. Needless to say when said event was over I needed a weekend away. I am sure I’ll offend someone when I say that I strongly dislike Pattaya, it just isn’t the place for me but being the nearest beach resort to Bangkok makes it a convenient option for a quick weekend jaunt.

We haven’t had much luck previously with hotels in Pattaya so when I spotted the new Mövenpick Siam on Jomtien Beach, Pattaya we thought we’d give it a go. At around 6,000 THB a night (booked through Agoda) it was a bit pricier than I’d have liked for a weekend but I’d rather that than stay in one of the many less salubrious hotels and resorts the town has to offer.

We arrived by taxi from Bangkok and were quickly checked in and shown to our room on the seventh floor. All the rooms here have sea views which is great and are decorated beautifully with luxurious fittings and a wonderfully comfy bed. As the hotel only opened this year everything is sparkly and new!

The pool is amazing, huge with a swim up bar, a restaurant and slides for kids (and big kids!). Whilst this is clearly a kid friendly resort (its has a nice looking kids club), it was pretty quiet and there weren’t too many kids around. We spent most of our time lounging on a cabana and taking dips in the pool. The beach is actually ok for Pattaya and there is a roped off area for swimming plus lots of equipment for hotel guests to borrow including kayaks and surfboards.

Breakfast was extensive and leisurely 7am-11am. There was a huge variety of food including a roti station presumably a nod to Mövenpick’s Swiss roots! There are three restaurants including the amazing T55 New York Grill Room where we indulged in a delicious Tomahawk steak on the Saturday night! We also tried Twist where I had a delicious Massaman curry.

We had a wonderfully relaxing time at the Mövenpick Siam in Pattaya and will definitely be going back when we need to escape the hustle and bustle of Bangkok for a night or two.
