Clinique Pep-Start

I received a little pink tube of Clinique Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser as a sample the last time I was in Sephora and having dabbled with Clinique products in the past (make mental note to add Dramatically Different Moisturiser to the list for next time I’m passing through Duty Free) I was more than happy to give it a whirl.

According to Clinique this daily cleanser is suitable for any skin type and is apparently gentle enough to be used twice a day – having used it I’d say that’s probably true. It doesn’t contain any parabens or phthalates so another point awarded there!

I am more of a chemical exfoliant girl but I have to say I really like the Clinique Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser. It contains tiny natural silica and bamboo beads which kind of feels like sugar and I didn’t find them harsh or grating on my skin. I apply a 50p sized blob of the orange gel to a dry face and rub in circular motions before adding warm water to create a lather, then washing all product away. I prefer to use this in the evening (I like something rich and creamy for the morning) and have tried it as both a first and second evening cleanse and it definitely, for me anyway works best as a second cleanse. I like to get my makeup off with an oil cleanser then go in with this which leaves my face feeling super soft, very smooth and a little bit glowy!

So this only leaves the question of would I purchase the full size? And it’s a very easy yes!

Has anyone tried any of the other products in the Pep-Start range? Any other recommendations?

I prefer chemical exfoliants too – my skin hates being rubbed too harshly. I haven’t tried any of the Prep-Start range but I’ve heard good things. It’s always telling when you receive a sample and want to buy the full size – it’s THAT good.

  2. Does this guy have little beads in it to exfoliate? Sometimes those irritate my skin. I’ve heard good things about this line and have been curious to try!

    1. Sorry I totally forgot to include that part in my post – I hate those bead things too and they are sooooo terrible for the environment but this has natural silica and bamboo beads apparently – I didn’t find them grating on my skin, they were more sugar like if that makes sense! x

It’s great that you got on with this! Unfortunately, didn’t work out for me. Each time I tried, my right eyelid would get REALLY dry the following days (this never happens with other products). Took up to a week to heal each time (after discontinued use) which was a nightmare but I really tried! Sad cos I do love a lot of Clinique’s products.

    1. Oh no that’s awful! So Sorry to hear that. I’m glad your eye is better now. What’s your go to cleanser? x

Great review. With my sensitive skin I could never use an exfoliant on a daily basis but maybe once a week to get a really good scrub. Clinique makes good products so I may give this one a try.
