Back in February, we went up to Chiangmai for a few days with my parents. As the only one who had visited before, my husband chose 99 The Heritage Hotel as he had a good experience in their sister hotel on a previous trip. It was just under £90 a room per night.
This beautiful boutique hotel is within the city walls so is a great location for exploring. It is a renovated colonial building with rooms around an internal courtyard so despite being on a relatively busy street as soon as you step through the gates you are embraced by quiet and tranquillity. The rooms are tastefully decorated with all the amenities you would expect. Breakfast was delicious with a huge variety and hands-down the best banana pancakes I have ever had! A really nice touch is the drinks and snacks in the foyer which you can help yourself to throughout the day, a nice treat when you returned from a few hours exploring! The pool was another great place to relax after some time wandering or cycling, as they had bicycles you could borrow for free.
The staff in the hotel are some of the most helpful and friendly I have experienced in my time travelling in Thailand. Jon and his team went out of their way, not just with us but every guest during our stay. We arrived on a Buddhist holiday, Makha Bucha day, so Jon took any guests that wished to go, over the road to Wat Phra Singh to participate in that evening’s celebration. I’ve been to many temples but I have never had anyone actually explain the ceremony so it was a fantastic experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at 99 The Heritage Hotel and highly recommend this fantastic hotel if you are in Chiangmai. We’re already looking forward to staying again when we return!
